Once upon a time, there were five sisters.
The first sister, Aaleyah, was the most
beautiful sister. She had curly auburn hair, and deep, dreamy blue eyes. When
you looked into them, you were instantly captivated. The second sister, Althea,
was the wisest sister. She had wavy, rich ginger hair, and transcendental green
eyes. She was Aaleyah’s twin, and shared resemblance. She was rich with
knowledge. The third sister, Atheena, was the kindest sister. She had straight reddish hair,
and transparent brown eyes. She was the second oldest, but the most socialized,
motherly sister. The fourth sister, Elvira, was the daunting sister. She had long,
black wavy hair, and brown almond shaped eyes. She was the least hesitant, and
took sneaking out as a second natured act. The fifth sister, Edrea, that’s me,
was the bravest sister. She had curly black hair, and sea green eyes. She was
the youngest, they had said, but certainly the bravest.
The sisters
lived in perfect harmony under their mother Desiree’s wing. The father, Cole,
had passed several years ago, on Edrea’s 7th birthday.
One day,
the mother, Desiree, called them into her study, for she had unbearable news to
be spoken.
“Girls.” She
spoke. The sisters listened closely. “You are all becoming young women, your
father would have been very proud of you all. I certainly am. Which is why I
feel you girls deserve the best. Which I fear, in these times, is not with me,
here.”
They all
looked up. “I don’t expect you all to agree on this, but I know some of you,”
she looks at Aaleyah, Althea, and Atheena. “will. Everyone in the town has
spoken of plagues and war. ‘Protect the children’ they say. I know it is hard
for you to cope with, you are so young, your father and I talked about this
discussing this with you, in this desperate time of need, I now carry his
wishes. It has been said, on this year, next month, we are under attack of the
gods, for something our terrible ancestors did. I wish I could tell you more,
but it would put you too in danger.”
The girls
look amongst each other with expressively concerned faces. “I have found hope,
a safe haven, designed specifically for you. It is a place called Silverwood.”
Edrea’s
ears rung at the sound of the word. In some way, she was familiar with this
place. She had never been there, so she didn’t know how she could ever be.
